Friday the 13th

It’s Friday.  Finally.

It’s also the Friday before my birthday!  It’s weird how the excitement dies after getting older.  It’s not that I am upset about my birthday happening, not at all.  It’s just a little less magical than it was as a child.  I think that’s because it gets lost somewhere in the day to day movements of our lives.  It’s one of those things that, well, you push to the side because you have responsibility, or errands, or you’re just too tired.

I plan on having a low key weekend for the most part.  I have cleaning to get done tomorrow, a 5 mile run, and then a cookout with some people, then Sunday, my actual birthday I plan on sleeping in, doing my new Jillian Michaels DVD, and relaxing.

We are going grocery shopping tonight or tomorrow morning, so I should most likely figure out that mess now.

Plan of the Day

  • Breakfast: Smoothie (1 c. Milk, 1 scoop protein, blueberries, banana, strawberries), Coffee, Yogurt and Grapes
  • Snack: WATER
  • Lunch: Chipotle Salad – Romaine lettuce, Pinto beans, fajita veggies, mild, medium, corn salsa, cheese
  • Snack: WATER/Diet pepsi
  • Dinner: Okra’s Port Orleans Salad: Tender baby spinach tossed with crumbled bleu cheese, chopped dates, shaved red onion and candied pecans with our citrus balsamic vinaigrette. (I’ll add Grilled Chicken, and skip the candied pecans and have the dressing on the side – because I suck the fun out of most meals).
  • Evening Snack: Beer

Activity: Shoulders and Abs + walking on treadmill for 20-30 minutes

I saved my ‘long run’ for tomorrow so I would have some Activity Point Buffer for the cookout.  I also still have all of my weekly points, so I can enjoy a cupcake too!


These are the shoes I chose from Mizuno for winning the blog giveaway from The Sweet Life.  I’m more than excited about these.  My legs have been feeling my shoes being a bit worn down for a while, but I was trying to make them last as long as possible.  Now I just have to wait a few days for these to get to my house.  I can’t freaking wait.  I have tried on Mizuno’s before and they were epically comfortable, but the price tag wasn’t.  These baby’s are like $150, and I got them for free.  FREE.

Sometimes you get lucky, and this time I surely did.

So now my focus has shifted from school to the Praxis Math Exam again.  My arch nemesis.  I will pass you, Praxis Math exam, I will pass you.  Dominate, even.  I will stand victorious in front of you at the Prometric Test Center in Falls Church VA and shout to the heavens (in my mind) loudly (through thought only) that “I HAVE MADE YOU MY BITCH.” (Of course since this is a testing center, and I don’t want to distrub the domination of other people over their tests, I will simply act this out, by standing up and exiting the center quietly.)  July 28th.  Let’s do this.

July 21st – Will just be epic.  I’ll post why and pictures afterward.  You’ll just have to wait.

And because she added her own, I figured I would add some things I’ve be known to say:

  • I really think {Insert running method I’ve discovered this week – Hal Higdon, Galloway, etc} is going to get me to the running level I want to be at.
  • I need better GU flavors
  • Running on the treadmill for 5 miles makes me feel lazy.  I should have run outside.
  • If it’s not Dry Wicking, it’s not worth it.
  • I’m obviously not training hard enough as I haven’t lost one toenail
  • Milk was a bad choice.
  • *Whispers* I have runner’s gut.
  • I am so nervous about my long run this weekend.  I know it’s not a race, but I’m terrified I won’t do well.
  • What the heck are hill repeats?
  • I am totally getting up at 5:30 am on Saturday to get this run done
  • I really need a Garmin.
  • Should I carry a gun while I run?  You know for protection?
  • If it’s a race at the National Harbor, I’m not doing it.
  • I prefer to run in the bitter cold
  • Do these Running tights make me look fat?
  • My Water belt is leaking!
  • The camelbak hydration pack is annoying.
  • Why did I eat Thai Food?
  • I should have peed one more time before leaving the house.

  1. What is a tempo run? What the hell are repeats? What the hell are splits? Am I really a runner if I don’t know the lingo?
